Thank you for viewing. This is a natural, oval-shaped inkstone from Shexian, made from a beautiful Langgan type stone featuring Venus, golden halo, and golden flower patterns, carved with a melon leaf design (approx. 8.5 inches, formerly owned by a calligrapher). It is believed to be from a beautiful stone such as the Shui Xian pit in Furong Stream, Longwei Mountain, and is an elegant literati inkstone with a natural beauty and presence reminiscent of the Milky Way or meteor showers. [Inkstone Features and Size] ★ Shexian Melon Leaf Natural Oval Inkstone (Beautiful Langgan type stone with Venus, golden halo, and golden flower patterns, in a lacquered wood box, believed to be from Shui Xian pit in Furong Stream, Longwei Mountain, made around the 1980s, formerly owned by an acquaintance calligrapher) Inkstone only: Approx. 21.2 x 10.3 x 2.6 cm (approx. 8.5 inches, approx. 920g) Including box: Approx. 23.8 x 12.5 x 4.7 cm (approx. 1255g) This inkstone is over 40 years old and has some scuffs and scratches, but in addition to its rich expression, its fengmao (grinding surface) is strong and finely finished, making it an excellent Shexian inkstone for both practical ink grinding and aesthetic appreciation.
