Vintage purple and black floral apparel fabric marked along the selvage: “California Fashions From the Studios of Fashion Initiatives – Pattern 322.” Measures approximately 3 yards × 48” wide. Striking tonal purple, plum and near-black floral print with a dense, layered design reminiscent of antique lace or tapestry. Despite the visually rich pattern, the fabric itself is lightweight, soft and exceptionally fluid with beautiful drape. Fiber content is not marked. The hand is reminiscent of modern Tencel/lyocell, but this vintage fabric may instead be rayon or a rayon blend; exact fiber content is unknown. Excellent apparel fabric for a flowing dress, blouse, skirt, wide-leg pants, kimono-style jacket or other garment where movement and drape are desirable. Likely late 1970s–1980s vintage, possibly somewhat later.
