This vintage Canadian Inuit hand-carved soapstone walrus sculpture is a unique and culturally significant piece. Beautiful, authentic vintage Inuit hand-carved soapstone sculpture depicting a resting walrus. This piece features the minimalist, heavy-form characteristics distinctive of mid-20th-century indigenous Arctic stone art, showing the natural mottling and deep green/gray variances of the soapstone. Made in Canada, this sculpture represents the traditional Inuit tribal affiliation and showcases the intricate craftsmanship of Canadian Aboriginal culture. The use of soapstone adds a touch of authenticity to this artwork, making it a desirable collectible for those interested in Indigenous art and history. The sculpture is also numbered and labeled, adding to its provenance and value as a one-of-a-kind piece. The underside retains its original paper Canada eskimo art distribution label and features an incised identification number (appears to be 13486) carved directly into the base. See photo. A wonderful, genuine addition for collectors of indigenous Canadian art and wildlife sculptures. Dimensions: Length 6, Width 2, Height 4, Weight 2 lb 3.5 oz Pre-Owned in Excellent Condition - no chips, cracks, flaws or significant signs of wear
