This is an open-reel tape recorder manufactured by SONY. The case is inscribed with Second North Elementary School and March, Showa 40 (1965), suggesting it was broadcasting equipment used by the school at the time. Power has been confirmed, and the operation of each switch and winding mechanism has been checked. However, as the take-up reel (the reel on the winding side) is missing, actual audio playback and recording have not been tested. The exterior shows scuffs and dirt due to age, but it is a piece of equipment with a Showa retro atmosphere. Recommended for collectors, retro audio enthusiasts, or as interior decor.
