This is old Japanese paper, approximately 50 years old. It has been carefully stored for a long time and possesses a unique texture and value that cannot be found in modern new paper. The most significant characteristic of this paper is that its fibers have naturally aged over the long period of 50 years. In the world of calligraphy and sumi-e (ink wash painting), old paper is called koshi and is highly valued as a precious material that allows ink to blend much better than new paper, enabling the expression of deep ink tones and beautiful dry brush strokes. The parts exposed to the outside have turned brown due to aging. This is evidence of natural oxidation from prolonged exposure to air and light over many years. You can either utilize this discolored part as is to add a unique antique-like charm to your artwork, or cut it away to use only the clean inner sections. It is a considerably large sheet, approximately 110cm wide. Japanese paper of this width is rare and ideal for large-scale works intended for exhibitions or for dynamic creative projects that cover an entire wall. Its large size allows for various expressive possibilities depending on your ingenuity. This paper is from a period when it is no longer manufactured, so the quality of the fibers and the manufacturing process differ from those of today. It is recommended for those seeking a writing feel that can only be achieved with paper that has accumulated history, and for those who understand the characteristics of old paper and can maximize its appeal. There are 5 sheets bundled together, making it suitable for projects requiring a substantial amount of material. Opportunities to find large sheets of Japanese paper aged for such a long period in this condition are rare. Discovered during a house clearance, this is a one-of-a-kind item, a truly artistic material that only time can create. This is a superb piece for those who are not satisfied with new, pristine white paper, who are particular about ink tone variations, and who wish to create with materials that evoke a sense of history. Please try to express a depth not found in modern works with this Japanese paper, imbued with the air of 50 years ago. #JapanesePaper #OldPaper #Calligraphy #SumiE #Vintage #Antique #ForExhibitions #ExtraLargeSize #InkPainting #AgedPaper Click here for the manufacturer's site
