The Olympian II is a hybrid architectural frame designed for torsional rigidity. Unlike standard acetate frames that rely solely on the material's density, the L1004 utilizes a continuous gold-plated metallic brow bar. This bar acts as a structural spine, ensuring the optical centers of the lenses remain perfectly aligned even under the mechanical stress of daily wear. G-15 Mineral Glass: These lenses offer a visible light transmission (VLT) of 15%. Because they are crafted from glass, they possess a higher refractive index than plastic, providing sharper peripheral vision and zero waves often found in modern molded lenses. B&L Rochester Forging: Produced in the USA before the 1999 brand transition. The mineral glass is chemically hardened to resist impacts, a safety standard originally developed for military pilots. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE The Olympian series redefined the wrap aesthetic before the industry shifted to sporty plastics. It was the choice of cinematic rebels, offering a silhouette that balances the aggression of a biker frame with the sophistication of a gentleman's accessory. CONDITION Frame: Excellent vintage condition. Hinges are tight and correctly indexed. The black acetate retains its deep luster with no whitening typical of age. Lenses: Fair-to-good vintage condition. Light surface artifacts are present on the mineral glass when held to direct light, along with light scratching, primarily on the left lens.
