Discover a unique piece of Americana with this vintage embossed postcard, featuring a distinctly dark and humorous take on Fourth of July safety. The vibrant, cartoonish illustration depicts an old man sagely advising an old woman on how to prevent their boy from being killed on the Fourth of July – by killing him on the Third. A thought bubble vividly illustrates a boy exploding from a firecracker, adding to the card's shocking and memorable wit. The patriotic border of stars and stripes frames this controversial yet fascinating piece of early 20th-century humor, making it a compelling item for collectors of holiday memorabilia and unique historical postcards. This collectible card is part of the FOURTH OF JULY SERIES NO.I and exhibits the characteristic embossing of its era, adding a tactile dimension to its visual appeal. The divided back design with a designated stamp box for domestic one-cent and foreign two-cent postage further places it within a specific historical context. Its provocative subject matter and bold artistic style make it a conversation starter, reflecting a bygone era's approach to holiday-themed humor. A must-have for enthusiasts of antique postcards, social history, or those seeking unusual Fourth of July ephemera.
