A graceful antique lace tippet from the Victorian era in England, mid-1800s to early 1900s. Made with a sheer, light-permeating mesh/tulle, adorned with hand-knitted bobbin lace and tape for appliqué decoration. This is a beautiful and delicate lace tie, long shawl, summer lace muffler, or wedding veil, crafted using Princess Lace and Battenberg Lace techniques. It possesses a delicate and elegant presence, unique to handmade items that have stood the test of time. The tape and lace forming floral patterns on the tulle are themselves handmade, featuring intricate details like eyelets and delicate patterns, all secured with needlework. The trim on both ends is edged with bobbin lace, resembling a row of small, lovely leaves, reminiscent of cherry blossoms dancing in the sky. The pistils and stamens of the lace flowers are embellished with lustrous thread in spiral embroidery and raised rings, like stars and suns. The color is an elegant, pale yellow ivory, a cream with a hint of lemon, or ecru. The sheer tulle is smooth and silky, feeling soft against the skin. It is light and airy, with a balance of softness and structure, possessing a subtle sheen and luster. We imagine it's made of high-quality cotton, or perhaps a cotton and silk blend. Its length allows for various styling options, such as crossing it and tying it in a bow, or wrapping it around. Being very thin, it won't create bulk when worn under a jacket or coat. It also looks lovely layered with other scarves or shawls. Please excuse any minor errors in the amateur measurements below for this handmade item: Length: 158 cm Width: 19-24 cm Weight: Approx. 13g The final image shows the reverse side. Upon close inspection, there are a few small color variations in pale brown and pale orange, and a few tiny brownish threads, but personally, I find them barely noticeable. There is no significant damage such as severe stains or tears. Considering its age, it is in beautiful condition. As this is an old handmade item, please forgive any minor oversights that do not affect its use. It will keep you cool in spring, summer, and autumn. In winter, when worn with black or dark-colored turtlenecks, the delicate lace and patterns stand out beautifully and elegantly. We hope you will enjoy using it.
