Wonderful piece of New Hampshire & American basket-making history! Authentic vintage Peterboro Basket Co. woven wood basket featuring its original metal plaque marked “1954” and “Made in U.S.A.” Peterboro's basket-making heritage began in 1854 in Peterborough, NH and continued for generations until production ended in 2022. This beautiful mid-century 1954 example represents a piece of that now-ended New England manufacturing tradition. Features warm honey-toned woven wood construction, swinging wooden handle, original hardware and an unusual 4-compartment divided interior, likely designed for carrying bottles, jars or other household items. Approx. 14L x 9W x 7H at basket body; approx. 13–14H with handle raised. Now over 70 years old, it shows expected vintage wear/patina consistent with age. Please review photos for condition. Perfect for collectors, farmhouse décor, kitchen display, picnic décor or New Hampshire memorabilia.
