An exquisite and beautiful antique Belgian lace, purchased in France. This is a stunning handmade Brussels Duchess lace or Honiton lace collar, likely from the 1800s, featuring a long lappet created with bobbin lace. It can be worn crossed at the chest as a summer scarf or lace shawl. When wrapped around your neck, you'll be breathless at its intricate, delicate, and unparalleled true beauty. The piece is densely filled with floral motifs, including sunflowers, marguerites, flowers resembling primroses, and charming shamrocks. The outlines are created with slightly thicker threads, while the interior utilizes intricate embroidery techniques. The delicate leaves, expressing vein patterns, are particularly striking. The bridges connecting the motifs are adorned with small picot lace, adding to their charm. The beautiful color is also captivating. A pale glass ivory... An elegant, antique ivory color with a subtle hint of khaki green-yellow. It might even feel like butter cream. There are minor unravelings in the very fine threads of the embroidery within the motifs and on the bridges, but they are not very noticeable. The long lappets are easy to wrap and use, and the layered lace creates an indescribable elegance. When not worn, it can be beautifully displayed by gently placing it in a large glass container.
